I used to play with it, too. I was taught a party trick involving a matchbox and a coin where you would end up with a waxy residue which you could rub with your fingers to make it glow. “Never did me any harm”, “didn’t know any better”, etc… the usual.

Look at the British Post Office scandal to see that companies will still do deliberate cover-ups and subject their employees to on-going harm in order to save face.

Or look at the 2008 Chinese Milk scandal for a more hopeful case, where a major shareholder reported itself to its own government after finding itself unable to instigate a public recall internally.

Several decades ago, scientists noted that termites were increasing in huge numbers worldwide and that they were particularly flatulent. Ordinarily, flatulence is not much more than low humor but not this time. In this case, the scientists claimed that the termites’ flatulence was quite likely the cause of global warming.

I started to look it over and I saw the name Harry Dexter White I was alarmed expecting a writer to praise this guy oblivious to the fact that he was a soviet agent who had a major role in walking us into WW II. It was really gratifying to see such an informational and skilled explanation of an important trend in history that isn’t always recognized. Well done.

The origional ” STENDEC” was from a bonafide UFO on a British airfield. I read the origional book of transcripts of air traffic controlers and witnesses. But now it has all been ” dissolved” into a completley different random story. I can no longer find the origional story.
This smacks of a government cover up and ” google” screwing with actual facts to make a profit from bullshit.

Does Anyone else have some memory of the ” real ” story ?
