While most of us are quite familiar with the name Rasputin and some of the mysticism associated with him, not many are aware that he was allegedly quite the prophet. Not long before his death, he composed a last will and testament, addressed to the last Russian Tsar, Nikholai II. Here is a loose translation from the copy presented in the book, “My Thoughts and Reflections” by Grigori Rasputin (edited, foreword/prologue by Oleg Slavin).
I write this letter, the last letter, which will be left after me in Saint Petersburg. I have a premonition that I will die before 1 January (1917). I speak to the Russian People, to Papa [he referred to Nikholai II as Papa and Aleksandra as Mama], to Mama and Children, to all of the Russian Land, what they should know and understand. If I will be killed by ordinary people, especially by my brothers—the Russian peasants, then you, the Russian Tsar, should not worry about Your Children, —they will lead in Russia another hundred years.
If the will and testament are authentic, then Rasputin really was on to something:
- “I will die before 1 January…” He was killed Dec 30, 1916.
- “if I am murdered by the boyars and noblemen…” He was killed by two relatives of the royal family.
- “at the end of twenty five years, not one nobleman will be left in Russia” Not sure on this one, but most of the royalty was either executed by the new regime, or fled Russia.
- “Brother will kill brother, everyone will kill each other and hate each other” The Communist revolution was a bloodbath. Even after the revolution ended, the regime of fear created by Stalin continued the blood and hatred.
- “none of Your Family, none of Your children and Relatives will live more than two years” The Romanov family was executed July 16th, 1918. His other family members will also executed. (Not all died in the course of 2 years. One of his Rasputin’s murderers died in 1967, another died in 1942 of tuberculosis, a third in 1920.)
- “disgrace and shame of the Russian Land” depends upon ones point of view
- “arrival of the antichrist” Lenin or Stalin, take your pick.
- “destruction of the Russian people” they survived didn’t they?
- “destruction of the…Orthodox faith” It was certainly hampered a bit under Communism, wasn’t it?
- “poverty, pestilence” There were years of hunger and poverty following the years of revolution.
- “desecrated temples of God” Stalin destroyed many, many Russian Orthodox churches and they were used as graineries, barns, etc.
Although not all his prophecies came to pass, or did depending on your point of view, it’s spoooooooky how accurate they were.

All I remember is “learning” about him in 6th grade. Isn’t he the one they killed by tieing him up and pushing him under ice into frigid water and he wouldn’t drown for many hours or days or whatever? Or do I have another “Russian Prophet” in mind? And why were we taught that in 6th grade? I would think they would want to concentrate on Russian History than just Rasputin.
Oh well. I enjoyed the post. I think I will do some studying of Russian History, right after I stop at the State Store for some Vodka. (See what I know about Russia.)

Look at the other article about Rasputin – that’s him, alright.
Nikolai has an H in it?! Shows how much I don’t know.
Boy, talk about rubbish. Most of the “hits” are vague. It is easy to retrofit historical events to such tripe. The “arrival of the antichrist” is either Lenin or Stalin?
( If, indeed, this is even a genuine document. It does not smell right to me.)
Ok – antichrist is certainly a hyperbola, but Stalin did almost destroy the church. Besides it doesn’t say that antichrist will come to Russia – you could interpret it to mean Hitler, and since WWII did incredible damage to Russia, he is relevant.
Destruction of the Russian people – that works under “end of Russia, beginning of USSR” or alternatively “end of USSR and the splitting of former Russia into independent republics”.
“…not one nobleman will be left in Russia…” – certainly true. Under communist regime all former noblemen lost their ranks and land. In fact after the revolution, the former land owners all had to give up their land. As a result – there were no noblemen left in Russia. Furthermore the former noblemen were shunned, imprisoned, etc, etc ad nauseum.
So indeed the prophecy works out – if it is a genuine document.
I’m curious, when was this letter presented to the Tsar and Tsarina? Was it prior to his death? Did the Royal Couple respond to this letter at all? I have read that it was found by his secretary, Simonovich. I’ve attempted to research the secretary but have found very little information about him. I would be grateful for any information concerning the above questions.
Thank You
Interesting – the USSR did last about 75 years – 1917 to 1992 (or was it 1991? 1990?)
Yeah, the Tsarina at least was aware of it. After his death she cut off all contact with the extended family, never left the house, and more or less gave up on keeping up the facade of the good, duty-driven Tsarina who is always happy and never too tired to host society (something she’d never been good at before anyways). She also stopped pushing her husband to be the ‘strong father’ tsar as it was now to her an obvious lost cause.
She took this letter very seriously, and though I believe the actual letter was made known to her after Rasputin’s death, Rasputin had mentioned similar things to the Tsarina and Nicholas before. She was also very aware of how hated he was, and he’d nearly been killed before in an assassination attempt.
I remember reading the last will and statement some time ago but i doubt the part that mentions something like……. ‘Three times twenty five years….’. Would you check, Josh , as to the date of publishing of the book you are referring. If the book is really printed before the fall of the soviet union, the man would really be of some sort…. a mystic..?
i want to know why the family got executed if ne one could tell me that i would be very grateful
In his will he wanted my dick
I realise that this is an old post, but for anyone who is curious as to why this is, there is a simple explanation:
It doesn’t really matter how “Nikolai” is spelled in the Roman alphabet, since it is a transcription from the Cyrillic alphabet spelling “Николай.” The pronunciation is most important. However, I believe that the Roman spelling of Nikolai is generally used most often.
The King of England refused to give them sanctuary.
