While rambling about on the moon’s surface, the Apollo astronauts spent a lot of time training their Hasselblad EDC cameras at the scenery, and occasionally went to the effort to capture a sequence of shots making up a complete circle. Now, over 30 years later, a chap by the name of Hans Nyberg has taken these shots, as well as some actual radio clips from the missions, and stitched them together into outstanding 360 degree Quicktime panoramas of the moon’s landscape.
Within the Quicktime panoramas, you can click and drag the image to alter the angle of view freely. These images have high enough resolution that they look gorgeous at full screen, and the audio from actual radio transmissions makes for an incredible ambiance. Some of the other VR panoramas on the site are worth checking out as well.

That’s DI! You can see their footprints n everything! Why do moon photos always have crosshairs? Is it to do with measuring distances?

My personal diary. Nobody is seeing this one too much except an astronaut. Hello-
And why is there a coke can buryied in the moon surface! See I knew aliens from Mars copied that trademark idea and then littered. This is a good rumer.
Is there something from Antartica or a cave that can grow on the moon. A garden is not polluting.
Not many stars visible. Was that result expected? It seems odd to me.
Wow. Simply Wow.
For someone brought up seeing distorted grey pixelated images of the moon landings. These images are a portal into another world. Truely awe inspiring.
5th!
Awesome images!
Old man, The cross hairs are for the Phazers and Photon Torpedos, doncha know.
I am just kidding. The cross hairs are really range marks to calculate the size and range of objects in the early pictures. That information is now embedded in each still shot and in many higher speed digital video records.

The stars are dim compared to the bright (sunlit) surface of the moon, so if you set your camera’s exposure settings for the bright objects in the foreground, the dim objects in the background don’t have the opportunity to expose the film. The same thing happens anytime you take a flash photo in the dark…the background is just about invisible.
