However, I’m reminded of a certain bit of truth stated by Laurence Fishburne in the 2016 movie “Passengers”. He states “The drowning man will always try and drag somebody down with him. It ain’t right… but the man’s drowning”.
Regardless of slave or French, two drowning men went for the same plank. Was it only Keraudic’s true self that was revealed in that moment? Or was it the same survival instinct that is embedded in each of us, even to this very day?
